Hi, I'm a new student singer. Whenever I begin my practice singing, my throat often has a heavy build-up of thick, sticky mucus, that interfers with my singing. I know it sounds disgusting, but what can I do? What is the best way of clearing my throat of this thick mucus? Is there a speacial drink or rinse that I can use?

Hi, James! The best thing you can do is increase your hydration (just plain water) and consider using a humidifier or steamer in the room you're singing in. Many singers warm up in the shower to take advantage of the steam!

As for clearing your throat, here's a short video I made on that topic!

Thankyou Camille, your suggestions look reasonable. I'll try them and report back to you.
