belting during warmups?

Hi, I just have a quick question. For warm ups when I go up higher, should I be using my falsetto or should I just belt the notes? Or should I try doing both?

    Thank you! :)

Great question, Noah! Depends on which exercise you're using. I recommend for the beginning of your warmup (singing on a lip trill, hum, or an OO vowel) that you let your voice lighten and transition into head/falsetto. Next, you can get into your mix on syllables like a dopey MUM/BUB or a bratty NAY/NYAH. And last, you can work on your belt (I like to use the syllable NO to encourage some mix and discourage pulling chest voice).

Short answer: let your voice transition unless you're specifically working on your belt!
