how to open the mouth

    Am I supposed to open my mouth vertically or horizontally in singing.

    yes we are supposed ti open our mouth when we are sing because they have to know that we are really really singing.

    Hi, Aaron! It's both (same as speaking), but in general we do use more vertical than horizontal opening for a nice, relaxed tone.

    Aaron, think when opening the mouth it will keep the sound moving forward in more controlled fashion which is what we want. Opening the mouth too wide(horizontally) will allow the sound to fall back in the throat which will drowned out the sound. We want the sound controlled,moving forward. Think of keeping the sound in the upper part of cheeks.
