Hello, I am just wondering how can we tell whether we are singing using breath support or the throat?

    Thanks

A good indicator that you are over utilizing the throat(larynx) would be if you exeprience tightness, soreness or any discomfort. You should not feel any of this when you are singing properly from the diaphragm. Also look in mirror when you are singing your layrnyx should stay in place when you are singing.

That's correct, Jim! I'll add that the larynx can move a bit but should stay relatively neutral.

We want our throat to feel free and relaxed, while the low abdomen feels gently engaged.
