I eventually want to be able to make up my own exercises that are specific to my voice so I was wondering when you guys make up exercises how do you know what pattern to use for the exercise notes like 1-5-1 1-2-3-4-5 1-8-1 etc. Maybe a youtube lesson on how to make up your own exercises would be useful to get into the mindset of a vocal teacher?

Thank you for the suggestion, Daniel! Consider:

    - Slides

    - Stepwise motion

    - Legato / staccato

    - Top-down or bottom-up

    - Large leaps

    - Arpeggios

    - Speed of exercise

    - Range of exercise

Then, you're matching what you want to accomplish with the pattern that will help you the most!
