Nasal sound and feeling when singing in mix

    Hi Camille, 

    I've been trying to strengthen my mix voice lately and take it up higher. I notice that lifting my soft palette when going high really helps with this. However, sometimes when I sing in mix I get a slight nasally sound and vibrational feeling in my nose. This happens even when I try to lift my soft palette. Any ideas on how to solve this? Thanks!

    Hi, Marley! Two things could be happening: your larynx might be a bit high (in which case I'd train on something with an UH vowel) or the back of your tongue could be high. See here for a lesson on tongue placement!
