Hi I have found mix voice and can sing with good support while using very little breath but my tone is a bit one dimensional in that how can i sing soft like in bright eyes while maintaining support and without getting breathy?

Should I use support? Should I limit breath or not? What is the approach to develop this light and shade?

Good question, Matt! We always want to sing with support, but you could try a few things to get a softer sound:

1. Shade toward narrower vowels (like OO or EE) to bring more "head voice" quality into your mix.

2. Play with the height of your larynx: a slightly lower larynx can give you more head voice quality, while a slightly higher larynx can give you a thinner sound. The vowels OO or OH for a low larynx and EE or A (as in cat) can help you feel and find that difference. 

3. Play with dynamics & breathiness: try slightly less volume; let some more air pass through your vocal folds (in the same way that you can talk with a "breathy" voice).
