    Hi Camille,

    So I've decided to also do some voice impressioning along with my singing. Now I know this is a voice forum, I think you still might be able to answer this. So when the back of the tongue raises and clenches, it creates a small resonating chamber in the voice. What does this exactly do?

    A smaller resonant space boosts higher frequencies, resulting in a brighter (or even nasal) sound! Tongue tension can also cause a "Kermit the frog" sound if the tongue is also pulling back (as it does to make an R sound).
