    how do I get the breathy tone?

    Hi, Hilly! It's the same function as regular speaking vs. whispering. See if you can vary the strength of your speaking voice (from normal to slightly breathy to a full whisper) and try the same with your singing (but stop before reaching a full whisper, since then the pitch will disappear)!
